Inside the Settings tab (below), there is a hidden setting: General_HttpServerPort, which was in my case set to 50001. I came across a post somewhere (I can’t seem to find it again) that mentioned there were options to change port settings within the debug console (entered via Ctrl+Shift+D inside Mendeley Desktop) Debug console accesseed via Ctrl+Shift+D On your Word document, click References to find a Mendeley Cite-O-Matic section. Re-installing plugins and Mendeley Desktop just wouldn’t seem to fix it and there was little I could find online about fixing this error. Install the Word plugin first Open MS Word, click the References ribbon to find the Mendeley Word plug-in toolbar Insert in-text citations You can select citations from your desktop Mendeley and insert them as in-text citations in your Word document. ![]() Everything seemed to install correctly (desktop version, chrome plugin, word plugin) however, I kept getting this error message in the Mendeley Desktop (version 1.19.4): 'There was a problem setting up Word plugin communication: The bound address is already in use' 985 boss recommends using Mendeley to manage papers, but there is a problem with installing the Word plug-in (Tools->Install MS Word Plugin) in Mendeley. The following window will pop up, activate this window by clicking on the text. Then look up 'MacIpcClient' in the menu 'Project - MendeleyPlugin' at the upper left of your screen and double-click. ![]() I’ve recently returned to Mendeley citation manager as it is prefered by collaborators. Click the (dotted) button at the right, will be 'Search errors' or something in English Word distribution, to open the Visual Basic Editor. ![]()
